PM calls for effective budget implementation strategies
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the ministers and secretaries to come up with innovative plans based on the policies and programmes of the government to ensure effective implementation of the budget.
Addressing a meeting of the ministers and the secretaries in Kathmandu on Friday, Oli directed them to submit their plans to his office within June 29.
“We discuss the plans from July 9 onwards before implementing them from July 17 onwards,” the prime minister said.
PM Oli was of the view that the government should move ahead with a long-term vision and proper planning.
“We don’t have any excuses now. We have a stable political system, elected representatives, republic and the constitution to put our plans to action,” he told the meeting.
Regarding doubts over the implementation of federalism, PM Oli directed the ministers to respond by action, by come up with such a work plan and enforcing them so that the people can see clearly how federalism works.
The prime minister also directed the ministers and the secretaries to avoid nepotism and cronyism.
“Competence and skill should be the criteria for every appointment, transfer and promotion,” Oli said, reiterating the government’s commitment to zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada said all required structures, laws and other necessary conditions should be developed to ensure effective implementation of the budget that was unveiled on May 29.
